Foundation Subjects
Here at FEJS our children study a broad and balanced curriculum. Some details can be found below.
Art and Design & Design and Technology
We have a dedicated art specialist who both delivers and advises staff on Art and D&T lessons. Pupils will have creative opportunities through their topic to gain experience with a range of media and develop their skills to design, make and evaluate their work.
British Values
At our school we teach the children about tolerance and mutual respect for other religions. Children learn about the traditions of other major religions and explore similarities and differences among these.
Computing
Our children follow the new Computing Curriculum which delivers an exciting opportunity for them to learn more about how the internet and networks operate, how to code and de-bug as well as learning how to use software. Digital literacy is used throughout the curriculum and children are taught how to be safe online and how to be responsible online citizens.
Geography
Children gain knowledge about places, people, resources and natural and human environments through links with their topic lessons.
History
History is also taught within topic lessons and this builds a chronological knowledge.
Modern Foreign Language
Our modern foreign language taught is French. We are fortunate to employ a dedicated French teacher and the high quality of our French provision is recognised across our local secondary schools.
Music
Music is taught throughout the school and we also enjoy external companies and providers who visit school to deliver exciting extra opportunities.
We have a talented school choir perform regularly in school and at local community events.
PE
PE lessons are held twice a week by our sports teacher, Mr Neequaye, and class teachers. Pupils are taught a range of dance, gymnastics and games skills. Swimming is taught in Year 3. Children are encouraged to take part in a range of inter-school competitive activities including football and netball of which we continue to build on our successes.
