The impact of collective worship on the school community is outstanding.
“Great value is placed on collective worship with prayer being a very important part of school life. Christian values are also woven through collective worship and supported by the Open the Book through drama. This has a positive bearing on children’s real life as links are made explicit. All staff are in attendance and a variety of people lead worship including children… The impact of collective worship reaches beyond the school. Parents comment on family discussions at home around prayer and the Trinity being discussed…Prayer is central to the life of the school. Pupils and staff regularly contribute to a prayer tree which is part of a reflection area central to the school. “ SIAMS Church Inspection Report - October 2014.
Children take part in an act of Collective Worship every day; this is usually held from 11:15 am to 11:30 am every day. Teachers and children lead our daily worship. The majority of our Worship is based around the Christian faith. However, in order to broaden pupils' understanding, we also look to draw links between key festivals and celebrations from other faiths and those from the Christian faith. Monday begins the week and introduces the Christian value from our vision alongside a key individual, text or event that embodies that value. Tuesday and Wednesday's worships are classroom/ year group or Key stage based where the children are encouraged to explore the value and what it means to them in their own experiences, receiving guidance from their teacher. On Thursday the whole school gathers to feedback the discussions undertaken in class. On Friday a staff member will conclude the week's serious of worships by returning to the theme.
Every Monday afternoon at 3pm our entire school community come together to celebrate our children's achievements in and out of school. Parents are invited to attend and join us to share our good news and good work.
Parents reserve the right to withdraw their children from organised religious worship.
